Solana Beach homes lean toward stone and hard flooring with area rugs, which changes the job entirely: less extraction, more careful chemistry, and a lot more masking before the water goes down.

Travertine is everywhere along this stretch of coast, and it is the stone most often damaged by ordinary household cleaner. We work pH-neutral and flush out the open holes rather than skimming across the surface.

Where there is carpet it is often wool. Wool cleans beautifully but holds water, so we take extra dry passes and leave air movers running rather than calling it done at damp.
